48TH “HAPPY VALLEY” REUNION TOUR DISCRIPTIONS:

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2019

Colonial Williamsburg is the only place that takes you back in time to the dawn of America. Start your visit by dining with patriots at one of the three historic taverns – each with its own distinct menu and specialty. Following lunch, step into Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic area, where you will be transported back in time to meet tradespeople, women, members of the enslaved community, shopkeepers, and political figures that call Williamsburg home. Explore historic 18th century buildings, engage our nation’s founders and gain a new perspective on our American story. With so much to see and do, there is something for everyone – history lovers, makers, and fans of architecture. 9:30am board bus, 6:30pm Return to hotel $63/person includes bus, tour escort, and admission. Lunch is on your own.

NORFOLK NAVY BASE AND NAUTICUS MUSEUM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2019

The Hampton Roads area is home to military bases from all branches of the military, and the Norfolk Naval Base is the world’s largest naval facility. Once passing through security screenings at the Visitor Center, continue on a driving tour of Admiral's Row, the Naval Air Station, and the piers. Following the visit to Norfolk Naval Base, you will have time to enjoy lunch at Norfolk’s Macarthur center home to 20+ restaurants varying in price range. After lunch, head downtown to Nauticus, an exciting 120,000 square-foot science and technology center that explores the power of the sea with interactive and educational exhibits. On the second deck of Nauticus is the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, which features a large collection of naval artwork, ship models and underwater artifacts. Also part of Nauticus is the USS Wisconsin. The Wisconsin is one of the largest and last battleships to be built by the U.S. Navy. Note: If for any reason the Naval Base is closed to the public (ie: security issues), the tour length will be shortened, but refunds can’t be issued. Due to heightened security, participants may be searched and a photo ID is required. Sharp objects, such as pocked knives and nail clippers are not allowed on base. 10:00am board bus, 5:00pm back at hotel $53/Person includes bus, escort, and admission. Lunch on your own.

When you arrive at the gardens, you will enjoy a 25-minute narrated tram tour. Following the tram tour, you’ll have time to stroll the gardens and enjoy lunch on your own at the Marigold & Honey Café, a counter service bistro café offering gourmet sandwiches, soups, salads, freshly-squeezed lemonades, smoothies, and a daily selection of baked goods. Following lunch, you’ll be transported to the Norfolk Premium Outlets, where you’ll have the chance to visit over 70 different stores and restaurants.
